De ondertitel ‘Americana de luxe’ is in het geval van Chuck Prophet misschien wat misleidend, want deze zanger/gitarist rockt wel degelijk (en soms zelfs hard). Hoewel hij ook als singer songwriter van wanten weet en sommige van zijn songs niet zouden misstaan bij een kampvuur op de prairie. Maar u kent hem natuurlijk, want u was er vorig jaar bij toen Green On Red in september onverwacht opdook in ons zaaltje en er voor een propvol huis een zinderend concert gaf, dat torenhoog scoorde in onze jaarlijst van 2006.
Met die Green On Red maakte hij acht albums, solo is hij ondertussen ook nog eens goed voor zeven stuks. Daarnaast dook hij op aan de zijde van schoon volk als Dylan-compagnon Bob Neuwirth, Warren Zevon, Jonathan Richman, Naked Prey en de nogal legendarische Dan Penn. Reken maar dat we deze klasbak opnieuw met open armen zullen ontvangen!
