Tommie Harris komt naar Eeklo. Niet de defensive tackle van de San Diego Chargers maar wel The Master of Alabama blues. Hij is een van de laatste echte originele blueszangers die nog touren. Harris werd geboren in Alabama in 1939 maar verhuisde al snel naar Chicago wegens het vele racisme. In Chicago speelde hij jarenlang in verschillende clubs, met onder andere Jimmy Reed, Luther Allison en Muddy Waters aan zijn zijde. In de jaren ’70 belandde hij met het Amerikaanse leger in Duitsland. Harris verliet het leger en besloot er te blijven wonen. Sindsdien tourt hij regelmatig door het continent, met saxofonist Big jay Mc Neely en pianist Al Copley. In zijn geboortestaat vergeten ze hem echter niet, want in 1987 wordt Harris -als bluesmuzikant (!)- opgenomen in de Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame.
Harris laat zich op dit enige Belgische concert van de tour begeleiden door Dynamite Daze, een internationaal krautblueskwartet dat ook zijn thuisbasis in Duitsland heeft. Dynamite Daze zijn geen onbekenden in het bluescircuit. Ze noemden zichzelf naar een plaat van Kevin Coyne en waren de vaste begeleidingsband van Louisiana Red op Europese tournees. Red kondigde drummer Colin Jamieson, van oorsprong een Schot, steevast aan als "the best drummer in the world".

Tommie Harris is coming to Eeklo. Not the defensive tackle of the San Diego Chargers, but The Master of Alabama blues. He’s one of the last original blues singers that is still capable of touring. Harris was born in Alabama in 1939 but he quickly moved to Chicago because of the dominant racist ideology in the South. In Chicago he played several clubs for many years, with artists such as Jimmy Reed, Luther Allison and Muddy Waters next to him. In the seventies he stranded in Germany with the American army. Harris left the army and decided to stay. He often tours through the continent, together with saxophonist Big Jay Mc Neely and pianist Al Copley. In his birth state Alabama he has never been forgotten, because Harris – a blues musician (!) – was added to the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame in 1987. Dynamite Daze, an international krautblues quartet that originated in Germany as well, will be accompanying him on the only Belgian concert of his tour. Dynamite Daze are no strangers in the blues circuit. The band was named after an album of Kevin Coyne and was the permanent backing band of Louisiana Red on his European tours. On his concerts Red always introduced drummer Collin Jamieson – originally a Scotsman - as the best drummer in the world.
