Poetry and music make a great couple. That’s why we invite two groups and a poetess to this edition of Opstand. The evening starts with Bonfire Lakes. The band of songwriter Marino Roosen brings melancholic folky songs. Their song Ghosts was picked up by Radio 1 via vi.be and Boombalfestival was convinced of the band. The sextet likes to provide the falling leaves with a soundtrack. The second act of the evening is the band Little Elmo from Ghent. They bring robust songs with a fragile side, dark as the night but also as light as a feather. Post rock is the setting for chanson, indie sits close to pop and a lost waltz is a relief in this mortar. Poetess Erika Destercke will bring some poems of her own between the two acts. She writes about life and nature. In 2008 she was guest poetess of Simon Vinkenoog.

Musician? Stand up! A riot starts in Eeklo this year. From near and far there are caravans on the move to conquer the capital of Meetjesland. But you can be ahead of them. 

“What is there to conquer in Eeklo?” many people say. Well, did you know that there’s a little villa in Eeklo? And did you know that this villa has PA equipment and a stage? And did you know that this equipment is not in use every first Thursday evening of the month. Such a shame! So, stand up, join us and do something with it!
